LELO DOT Travel Review 2024: Best Pinpoint Clit Vibe?

LELO DOT TravelWhen you have an itch you need to be scratched, you want someone to scratch precisely at your itchy spot. Scratching around it will only be frustrating. So it goes for some clits: broad sensations offered by wands or wide vibrators can feel too non-specific, like someone who is massaging the wrong spot on your back. That’s where the LELO DOT Travel gets extra brownie points: you can isolate your most pleasurable spots and then tailor a masturbation experience depending on how you angle it, thanks to the Infinite Loop Technology.

But would the tip be so pointy as to be uncomfortable or ticklish, or would the vibes be too buzzy to enjoy? I was curious to see what the latest addition to LELO’s world of vibes had in store for me. Pack your bags as we discover in my LELO DOT Travel review if this perfectly pink pinpoint vibe is the ultimate vacation buddy.

Key Takeaways
4.6 out of 5 stars

Overall, I’ve never tried a better pinpoint vibe in my life. LELO DOT Travel’s affordable price is just the cherry on top. Anyone who loves precision vibration will be thrilled with this jet-setting, pleasure-packing, accuracy-driven device. However, it’s similar to its original LELO DOT prequel. You only need to purchase the Travel if you genuinely need that one inch of extra room (since the Travel is only one inch shorter) or if you have the ten-year quality guarantee, a broken LELO toy, and are itching to get a new one.

Who Is This For? Travelers, beach lovers, discreet toy addicts, pinpoint princesses, and anyone who wants to try a new clitoral vibration sensation will be besotted by DOT Travel.

Who Is This Not For? You should skip out on the LELO DOT Travel if you need dual stimulation to climax, prefer all-over, power-house sensations that only a wand can provide, or need something to connect you and a long-distance lover.

You Can Buy It on the official Lelo website for $99.

What Is LELO DOT Travel?

The LELO DOT Travel is a pinpoint clitoral vibrator meant for discreet use wherever your travels take you. What separates this device from the rest is its small size, enormous power, and Infinite Loop Technology, which provides elliptical oscillation.

LELO DOT Travel

Elliptical oscillation is unique to the LELO DOT, and I wasn’t sure what to expect from the online description. It’s described as a feature that changes the usual stimulation trajectory from circles to an elliptical shape so that when you move the tip around, you get a completely different experience. Essentially, the vibrations move in the shape of the infinity symbol around your clit, giving you a precise vibration but also an all-encompassing feeling at the same time. It also means that when you press down, the vibrations are programmed to transfer more efficiently, giving you earth-shaking orgasm after earth-shaking orgasm.

First Impressions and Features

Unboxing

LELO generally provides my favorite unboxing experience. Their devices always have everything you need, plus thoughtful extras wrapped in a jaw-dropping package. They pack sex toys the way you’d package your child if you were going to ship them around the world. Everything is carefully and judiciously nestled and the toys are treated with love.

The content of the box

When you unbox the LELO DOT Travel, you’ll find the pinpoint clitoral stimulator, a USB charging cord, a satin storage pouch, a warranty instruction card, a detailed instruction manual, and a sample packet of lube. Though described as a “detailed instruction manual,” the pamphlet I received was barely a brief overview of what the toy is and included next to no information on how to use it or what to expect. You’ll want to download the user manual available on the product website to get the whole picture. Every other part of the unboxing was perfection.

Features

The LELO DOT Travel has features that are on the dot, including:

  • Eight settings to choose from
  • Waterproof, body-safe materials with a soft, bendable tip
  • Infinite Loop Technology allows you to alter the experience by changing the position of the vibe
  • Travel lock and compact size, perfect for getting away with ease

Specifications

LELO DOT Travel specifications at a glance:

  • Material: Body-safe silicone and ABS plastic
  • Size: 5.40” x 1.02” x 1.06”
  • Color: Pink or purple
  • Mechanism: Pinpoint clitoral vibration
  • Weight: 1.87 ounces

How Do I Use LELO DOT Travel?

Using the LELO DOT Travel is intuitive, but you’ll need to charge it to get started. The sex toy comes with a USB charging cable. Plug the bottom end in, and when it’s charging, you’ll see the intersection of the buttons slowly light and dim indicating that it is getting juiced. When it’s fully charged, the lights will remain lit.

The user manual estimated that it would take up to two hours to charge and then last up to one hour on a full charge. I was surprised by this estimate since one of the features marketed heavily on the website is a long battery life—and one hour isn’t super long. However, when I tested it, it lasted two hours and ten minutes on the first setting and took just under ninety minutes to charge. The battery life relative to charge time is average, if not below average, but the power makes up for the lackluster ratio.

The user manual

After it’s fully charged, wash it with antibacterial soap and water or a sex toy cleaner if you have one on hand. Get in all the crevices! Then, let it air dry or, if you’re in a rush to use your new toy (and who isn’t?), wipe it dry with a lint-proof towel.

Now that it’s clean and charged, you are almost to the fun part! Grab some water-based lubricant. The personal moisturizer that comes inside the box is perfect for this job. Steer clear of silicone lubricant with this silicone-based device, as when you combine the two, it can erode the body-safe exterior of the vibe and leave you with a toy that will be impossible to sanitize. Put the water-based lube on your clit as well as the tip.

Next, turn the DOT Travel on by pressing the middle button with the () symbol. The center button will take you through eight different rhythms. The plus and minus buttons will increase and decrease the intensity. Press and hold the center button when you’re finished to turn off the device. Since one of the distinguishing features is the Infinite Loop Technology, don’t forget to experiment with the angle at which you hold the tip of the vibrator, as it can significantly change the experience you have.

Once you’ve had enough fun, wash the DOT Travel again, dry it, and store it in the satin storage bag. This vibe has a standby time of 90 days, meaning you have three months to use the remainder of the battery before you’ll need to recharge the device regardless.

If you’re using the toy while traveling, you can access the handy travel lock feature by holding down the plus and minus buttons simultaneously for three seconds. The light will flash when it locks. Now, the power button won’t activate unless you disarm the travel lock by holding down the plus and minus buttons for three seconds again, ensuring your cute little vibe doesn’t squander its battery away during your flight, drive, or sail.

My Personal Experience

I am a pinpoint princess, and clitoral vibration is my absolute favorite thing, so I was beyond excited to find out what the LELO DOT Travel had to offer. Would the elliptical shape be noticeably different from the other toys that live on my nightstand? I needed answers.

In the end, I couldn’t quite feel the elliptical shape of the stimulation. All I could feel was pleasure. Though it’s difficult to divine what is different about this kind of vibration, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

LELO DOT Travel

Some pinpoint vibes have left me wanting because they can be too pinpoint-y. It’s nice to have a precision vibe, but feeling the all-over sensation of goodness, even a little bit, can add to the experience. I was pleased to find out that it did both. The vibrations were so shockingly intense that they stimulated my whole clitoral area, effortlessly transferring through the skin around my labia.

My jaw dropped when I saw the under $100 price tag for the LELO DOT Travel. This toy oozes quality from unboxing to storage, and you can get it for less than $100. I honestly thought it would be $180, minimum. This is an insane value.

Packaging

When I received the LELO DOT Travel, it came in a plain brown package, but the return label did say “LELO” on it—so keep that in mind if you need top-tier discretion. Your neighbors won’t know, but those you live with might if they are familiar with the brand.

The packaging

Inside the cardboard box was a beautifully giftable black box with luxurious extras curated and neatly stowed inside.

Design

When I first played with this toy, I worried that the pinpoint tip was perhaps too bendable. The tip is so slender and the material so soft that I was concerned that the flexibility might make it fragile or prone to breakage. I often accidentally drive vibrators into me as I near climax—even when I’m trying to be careful—so the tiny tip made me nervous.

Fortunately, it stood up to my use. Even though I did my best not to crush it into me, I still did a little bit, and the toy performed beautifully. However, when I got too into the moment, the motor would stop or stall out occasionally. It was frustrating, but it was also a necessary reminder for me to be gentler.

Closeup of the tip

LELO thoughtfully added ridges to the buttons. While this can make cleaning slightly more laborious since you’ll need to get in there with a toothbrush for detailed sanitization, it also makes the buttons easier to identify by feel. The middle button is for turning on and off, but the increase intensity button will be at the top when you hold the DOT Travel pointed toward your clit, making for an intuitive button-use experience. You’ll never have to remove the toy to look at the buttons and remember what to press.

Material

LELO uses the smoothest silicone. It’s silky and luxurious. Plus, it’s waterproof, a must-have feature when purchasing a travel vibe. It rides the fine line between soft and durable, so this feels like a quality clitoral vibrator that will stand the test of time.

Stimulations

The stimulations on the LELO DOT Travel were surprisingly rumbly for something with so fine a point. I was pleasantly shocked by the fact that the tiny tip transferred vibrations deep into my core. If you want the vibrations only in one place, hold only the tip on your clit. But if you crave more all-over sensation, angling the vibe slightly to the side adds an incredible depth to the experience. You can switch from a tingly buzz to a moderate rumble by changing the position and the intensity.

Closeup on the controls of LELO DOT Travel

When I tested the DOT Travel out, I tried to specifically feel the elliptical-shaped vibrations that the site advertised. While I couldn’t distinguish a difference in the shape of the stimulations, I noticed that the vibrations somehow just felt better all around.

After trying out all the settings, I think this little vibe will satisfy those who favor either buzzy or lightly rumbly sensations. It performs spectacularly on both ends of the spectrum, but it leans more towards buzzy. Yet the motor is so powerful that I never needed to go beyond the first setting before reaching climax.

Sound Level

The sound level corresponds to the strength of this pinpoint vibe. It’s a strong vibe, and you can hear that. However, it’s not noisy or distracting and is quiet enough to use during partnered sex without taking away from the moment. Piling covers on top or turning on music should be enough to drown out any unwanted sounds. When I tested the sound level, the decibels ranged from 35 to 49.

Build Quality and Dimensions

The build quality is excellent—it must be, to have such a flexible, tiny tip that doesn’t break from gentle pressure. However, the motor tends to turn off or stall out if you grind too hard against it.

LELO DOT Travel

The dimensions are also perfect for an on-the-go toy. It’s small enough to slip into your purse or carry-on, but it’s not quite pocket-sized. It’s also large enough that it’s not difficult to grip and has a long enough handle to hold without getting lube on your fingers.

Ease of Use

The LELO DOT Travel is a low-maintenance vibe. It’s waterproof, which makes cleaning easier. However, there are seams between the ABS plastic and the silicone; plus, there is a decent-sized hole where you plug in the charging cable. For best results, you’ll want to use a toothbrush to detail these parts from time to time.

Versatility

The LELO DOT Travel is unexpectedly versatile for a device that only targets one area. It has a travel lock, waterproof materials, and a small size, so it’s perfect for beach vacations or use in the shower or tub. The vibrations range from buzzy to somewhat rumbly, appealing to people who like many types of intensities. It fits easily between two partners and isn’t objectionably loud, so it’s great for masturbation or partnered play alike. And the under $100 price tag makes it relatively affordable and possible for people on many budgets to purchase.

This pinpoint vibrator is not app-compatible, so it won’t be ideal for long-distance partners. There’s no easy way to use it hands-free, so people with grip issues will need to find another toy to purchase.

Warranty and Support

The LELO DOT Travel comes with a one-year warranty. If you have an issue due to workmanship or materials, they will replace it for free within one year from the original purchase.

Further, it comes with a ten-year quality guarantee. This decade-long pledge means that if your LELO device stops working at any point during the first ten years, they will offer you 50% off another device.

Minor Issues I Found During Testing

There were only a couple of things that were less than stellar about this vibe. First, the charge time to use time could be better. Next, it’s a more challenging toy to clean, thanks to the charging hole that is begging to collect dust and debris. Lastly, the motor will sometimes give out if you press the DOT Travel too firmly against your clit.

That aside, I’m dotty for this DOT!

Alternatives to the LELO DOT Travel

LELO DOT

The LELO DOT was the inspiration for DOT Travel, and there are some noteworthy differences between the two. The design is different, as the original LELO DOT has a handle, making it easier to hold when things get slippery but not as easy to fit into a small shoulder bag. The original also comes in an additional color—aqua—and costs quite a bit more: $179 when not on sale, $116 on the sale posted as of this writing. The sizes are comparable, and the original DOT is just over one inch longer than the Travel. I was surprised by how similar they were, and I would have thought that the Travel would be much more compact than the original, but that’s not quite the case.

Lelo Dot

Comparing the two, the original LELO DOT doesn’t have enough upgrades to justify the nearly double price tag and is only worth buying if it is on sale. Otherwise, the LELO DOT Travel is the way to go unless you need a handle for stability.

If you want to learn more about the former version, we highly recommend reading this Lelo DOT review.

Lovense Hyphy

The Hyphy by Lovense is another pinpoint clitoral stimulator, but it looks rather like a dentist’s tool. Design-wise, the DOT Travel is much prettier. However, the Hyphy is a double-ended vibrator, with the pinpoint side prepped for clits and nipples and the other end shaped for G-spot satisfaction. It comes with three attachments, including circular, u-shaped, and tongue-shaped ends. The U-shaped one would be perfect for nipples, and the tongue is a fun choice for any part that loves to be licked. The storage case charges the device, and the Hyphy has a much longer battery life. It’s also more versatile, thanks to the range of attachments and capacity for internal use. The Hyphy is the better choice for anyone unsure if they’ll enjoy pinpoint stimulation since it has other options.

You can find the Hyphy for $199 when not on sale, or as low as $99 otherwise, comparable in price to the DOT Travel.

If you plan to get the Hyphy instead, use the discount code from our Lovense Hyphy review right here.

Zumio Xena

Last on the list of pinpoint clitoral vibrator comparisons is the Zumio Xena. It’s the most like the LELO DOT Travel since it has a travel lock, eight intensity settings, and doesn’t come with extra attachments. The Zumio Xena even boasts an elliptical rotation pattern. However, this pinpoint vibe lacks different patterns to play with, is less aesthetically pleasing, and doesn’t have quite as luxurious of an unboxing experience. However, the Xena can reach speeds of 7000 rpm and it comes with a 2-year warranty—double what LELO offers.

The Zumio Xena retails for $135.
